Slow Your Roll

Sometimes it is just great to take a vacation and get out of the grind for a while. Well I just got back from my own vacation with the Nutters to Eagle Crest and Mt. Bachelor. I had and amazing time on the rode and on the mountain with friends. Mt. Bachelor, the best snow I have ever snowboarded on; it felt like snow surfing. We went up yesterday, Mr. Nutter, Luke, myself, and the Nutters friend, Tim Gaffney. The rest of my time I spent in the car, playing pool, ping-pong, air-hockey, and extreme hunting with Luke, eating or just hanging out with and getting to know the Gaffneys. All in all I had a great trip; I'm so glad that the Nutters invited me to go along with them.

Heading Out At High Noon

Tomorrow is the day that I will be leaving to go on a road trip with the Nutters. I'll be going with Luke and we are going to have a rockin' time in central Oregon. We're going to Sisters, Bend, and even snowboarding on Mt. Bachelor. I'll be gone for a few days so I won't be able to post during that time, but I should have a lot to talk about when I get back.

Quizzical

Tonight is the last night of quizzing that we will have in this term. We will be quizzing over the book of John 7 and after tonight the top five quizzers will receive some kind of prize or reward.

Last night I went on IMPACT Outreach at Church but there were only about 6 people that came. All the others were away at tournament. I went with Andy on a few visits but spent most of our time talking to two Jehovah's Witness. That was interesting.

All the highschoolers and parents are coming back from tournament today. So far all I know is that the guys have won a few games and that the volleyball girls have lost a game. But tonight all will be revealed; the vans return just in time for evening church.

How We Met In South Beaverton

I didn't have a terribly busy weekend but it was full. On Thursday I started the whole thing off by spending nearly all afternoon with the phone glued to my ear contacting and recontacting people about frisbee, trying to people to commit. I was finally satisfied. I had checked the weather report and it read no rain for Saturday, I had called everyone I could think of and we were going to play frisbee. When the day finally came we got to the field early; the turf was busy so we were going to play on the grass field. When everybody finally showed up we decided to play a half an hour of soccer before we were going to play frisbee. When that was over we started to play frisbee. Just a few plays into the game the turf field opened up so we all moved all our stuff up onto the AstroTurf. On the turf we met another frisbee team that challenged us to a game. They eventually won but it was a really good game anyway. After the game we got to know them a bit and traded some information so that we could stay in touch about frisbee games. And that's how we met the SBeavton guys.

I also just made an Ultimate Frisbee Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/blackwatchfrisbee) so check it out and sign up. I will post their as well as calling and emailing info about upcoming games.

I just got back from bowling but I didn't have me groove on. I didn't do very well but I had a good time anyway. Can't wait until frisbee on Saturday.

When I Win

Today no one showed up for frisbee at one o'clock so we waited around for a while watching soccer. When we went to play a little of our own soccer the Popescus showed up so we played us vs. them. In the middle of the game it started to rain lightly, which only made it colder. After a little while Luke and Alex and showed up. Luke didn't want to play soccer so he waited for us to be done. During soccer I scored four goals. I was so happy. We then started playing fribsee and it started to rain a little harder. Just a few plays into the game I was running after Adam and suddenly my left calf started to feel tight and cramped up really bad. I tried to hobble along for a few steps but I couldn't do it. I went down to the ground and my calf was really tight and it hurt a lot. Adam came over and pressed on it and strecthed it a little. In a little while it felt better but I decided to sit out so I didn't injure myself any further. Standing in the rain and not playing got really cold all of a sudden so I put on Adam's jacket and watched the game, occasionally throwing out my two cents trying to give someone a tip. The rain started to pick up and it was starting to get colder so everyone decided it was time to go. All in all it wasn't too bad even though there was just a few of us.

When I Depart At Days First Light

It's official! I'm going to Texas for six weeks in April to visit Anna; I just bought my ticket yesterday. Now I have to get ready by buying the shoes and work pants that I'm gonna need, seeing as how it is a rule that I'm not going to be aloud to wear jeans while at the Training Center.

Today is my mom's birthday and my uncle and aunt just got into town today. My uncle made dinner for us and we had a grand old time. My aunt Ronnie hadn't seen Fred for a week and they came into Portland on completely different flights. Tomorrow I'll be going to a piano recital type thing then playing Ultimate Frisbee in the afternoon at one. Everyone needs to be there. Recently I haven't been very psyced up about frisbee, not because I don't like it but because I haven't done it lately, but now that I'm actually doing it I'm ready to play.

Home Improvement

The fireplace is still on it's way to being completed and there is still a hole in the wall but it doesn't lead to the outside world. But on this journey that we are on we had to make a few stops. So this afternoon Mr. Dutton came over for to do some electrical work. We moved an outlet, made a quick run to the Home Depot, drilled some holes and ran some wire. With all that done we are now waiting for our framing and electrical inspection on Monday before our project can be finished.

Exhilarate

Ever since Sara's birthday the wheels in my mind have been turning, trying to come up with a plan on how I could get to the mall and try and find something for Sara for a late birthday present. Yesterday I had a chance to go there and to meet with Luke at the same time. So, after my school was done I and I had talked to Luke I hopped on my bike and headed out. It was the first time in a while that I had ridden anywhere except the stables and I was really glad to be riding again. When I started riding I was cold and the wind went straight through my hoodie, but by the time I was climbing the slight grade I was warmed up and I didn't even notice the cold. When I got to the mall I locked my bike up and went into Starbucks to wait for Luke. I didn't want to get anything to drink until after I had finished what I had come for so I got and ice water. When Luke showed up we spent a little time putting quarters into one of those collection booklet things. When that was finished I headed out roaming the mall looking to complete my mission. I looked around at a few places but nothing really stood out to me. Then I decided I would just go back to American Eagle and buy Sara a gift card and she could get what ever she wanted. With that completed we made our course for the Starbucks to just chill for awhile. I ordered a Caffe Mocha with half the mocha syrup. (Next time I need to order it extra hot.) When we had finished our drinks we had to go to the bathroom and Luke's dad was going to pick him up. Upon completing my business, I was waiting for Luke next to the sinks. While I was waiting I had an interesting encounter with a strange little man. I couldn't understand him and he kept laughing about who knows what. When I asked him what he was laughing about he mumbled something and the only word I made out was "happy." Finally he was finished drying his hands and he left. So did we. Luke was picked up right then and I was left to ride my bike home. When I went outside I found that it was raining, but seeing as there was nothing else I could do I unlocked my bike and started for home.

When I first started into the cold sheeting rain I thought it was going to be a long miserable ride home. But it wasn't long until I just let go of wanting to stay dry and after that I had the most exhilarating, exciting, and blood pumping ride I've ever had in the rain. I didn't care if I got wet and dirty any more, I was riding through puddles and along the gritty bike lane sand dirt were flung up onto my face and clothes. The wind blew needles of ice through my hoodie. In one particular stretch of the rode gritty sandy water was flung into my eyes and I couldn't see. When I passed the new Starbucks on Nimbus Ave. I had to scream shout, scream shout, scream shout, so I just let it all out. People must have thought it was pretty weird seeing a guy ride by on a bike drenched and dirty screaming with pure excitement. When I got home I looked in the mirror, a dirty, speckled, grimy, smiling face beamed back at me. Showering never could feel better than that.

Stain The Fence

I just got done with another work day staining a fence in Tualatin. I still have some school to catch up on but I think I'm going to be done working for just a little while so I can do that.

Evan just bought a new car; a nice little 96 black Jetta.

That's what's new.

Just Another Hole In the Wall

Well, It's February now and less than two weeks to my birthday; I'm turning 17. I finished the fence job at the Williams and got paid, and yesterday I worked with Mr. Martin staining a fence in Tualatin. He and Courtney will stain more on Monday, if the weather holds up like the weatherman said, then he and I will finish up the rest of it on Tuesday and be done. Also, yesterday the guy from Tyger Construction came and started constructing the 'dog house' for our fire place. When I got home from work yesterday there was a hole in the wall to the outside world. It wasn't warm downstairs.
