I Kings 22 relates to us the account of Jehoshaphat making an alliance with Ahab against the king of Syria. In it Jehoshaphat calls for prophets to come and tell them whether they should go and fight against Syria. All the prophets prophesy that they will be victorious if they go up to battle. Somehow Jehoshaphat knows that something isn't right and enquires if there is a prophet of the Lord that they can ask. Ahab says he knows of one guy, names Micaiah, who he himself hates because he never says anything good about him. But they decide to ask him anyway. At first it appeared the he would agree with Ahab's prophets, that they should go to battle, but upon Ahab telling him only tell the truth he reveals that if they go up to battle they will lose and everyone will be lost and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
Micaiah proclaimed what he knew was right even though four hundred other prophets said something completely different. He continued in the same manner even under persecution. (Zedekiah smites him vs. 24).
How can we stand alone for the truth?
