In Mongolia it is absolutely normal for people to make house calls uninvited and without prior notification. We made one such house call last night to Vancha, the owner of the extra apartment the Dean's rent for school and office use (where Kevin and I are currently sleeping), and his family. We had a really pleasant time; Vancha's wife was very hospitable and she gave us Arolh(dried milk curds) and frozen blueberries. She also wants us to come over again some time to speak English with her sons, of which she has four.
Vancha is the Mongolian Mr. Nutter. He's about the same size, is an electrical engineer and a lot of mannerisms just made me think of Mr. Nutter. His easy going demeanor as well as his facial expressions, everything down to his slightly tousled hair. If Mr. Nutter had been born in Mongolia he would be Vancha.
